Croaktown Registry of Ponds & Shells — filed under protest

The Holdings

An empire isn't a pile of flies. It's seventeen ponds with no water in them, each signed for by a cousin last seen fishing in the islands, each doing honest business that happens to be a crime.

Every prosecutor wants this list. Every reporter asks for it. So here it is, notarized by nobody and denied under oath by its owner: the full directory of the shell pondcompanies. Read it top to bottom and you've read the whole racket. He'd tell you there are only seventeen. There are only seventeen. Stop counting.

  1. Cousin Merle Holdings LLP

Line of businessFly laundering & wash services

Takes flies in dirty, returns them pressed, folded, and untraceable. Cousin Merle signed the incorporation papers and has not been seen since the ink dried.

On the recordThe job — The Tongue-Press Shell Game (§ 09.1)
  2. Cattail Amusements Unlimited

    Line of businessGaming & hospitality

Operates a storm-drain casino that reports zero winners and zero losers — only the house. Books audited by no one, ever, in accordance with policy.

On the recordThe job — The Cattail Street Ribbit Casino (§ 04.2)
  3. Sunrise Pad Developments

    Line of businessPre-construction real estate

Sold forty-one lily-pads off a single brochure. Built zero. The brochure remains the company's only physical asset and its proudest one.

    On the recordThe job — The Forty-One-Tenant Lily-Pad (§ 07.3)
  4. Second-Cousin Reputation Group

Line of businessImage consulting & clean records

Manufactures spotless histories for frogs who need one, including the impersonation of a certain tax-paying good twin who does everything right and sleeps worse for it.

On the recordThe job — The Good Twin Gambit (§ 13.0)
  5. Reed & Cousin Crossing Co.

    Line of businessToll infrastructure

Owns no pond. Tolls four crossings. Every frog pays; the company holds no deeds and has issued no refunds since incorporation, which it counts as a perfect record.

On the recordCroaktown Dictionary — "Pond-toll"
  6. Mallory Mutual Pondbank

    Line of businessShort-term lending

Accepts bug-currency, charges interest in gratitude and fear. Collections handled in-house, loudly, by a loan shark who accepts no late payments and no excuses.

On the recordThe crew — Big Mama Mallory
  7. Gone-Fishing Fisheries Inc.

    Line of businessMaritime relocation services

Specializes in one-way trips to the islands for frogs who talked to the wrong desk officer. Repeat business is, by design, impossible.

On the recordCroaktown Dictionary — "Gone fishing in the islands"
  8. Skeeter Certified Authentics

    Line of businessAppraisal & memorabilia

Authenticates swamp memorabilia, including six forged tongue-prints it appraised as genuine and one casserole receipt signed in a name that was not PooPee's.

On the recordThe crew — Skeeter the Auctioneer
  9. Toadkins Correctional Concessions

Line of businessCorrectional services & commissary

Runs the Lily-pad Lockup floor more profitably than the swamp that owns it. The warden has no comment, a clean conscience, and a new watch.

On the recordCroaktown Dictionary — "Lily-pad lockup"
  10. The Float Financial Group

    Line of businessPayment processing

Holds every fly during the moment between the dirty one and the clean one — and considers that moment, legally, its own property. Never lets the wash finish before it's been paid.

On the recordCroaktown Dictionary — "The float"
  11. Tongue-Press Trust

Line of businessNotary & document services

Certifies the swamp's one unforgeable signature, which is precisely the signature the empire has forged more times than it has certified honestly.

On the recordCroaktown Dictionary — "Tongue-print forgery"
  12. Swamp-Bucks Exchange Ltd.

    Line of businessCurrency exchange

Sets the rate on a currency pegged to nothing and backed by intimidation. The rate is whatever PooPee is holding at the time you ask.

On the recordCroaktown Dictionary — "Swamp-bucks"
  13. Ribbit Ring Promotions

Line of businessSporting events & wagers

Books the underground croak-gambling circuit — frogs betting swamp-bucks on who can hold a note longest. The house takes a cut of every croak, held or not.

On the recordCroaktown Dictionary — "Ribbit ring"
  14. Croaksworth Salvage & Storage

    Line of businessAsset recovery

Recovers valuable items from the property room and stores them somewhere warmer. Three exhibits from PooPee's own case are logged here as shrinkage. The desk officer saw nothing.

On the recordCroaktown Dictionary — "Property-room shrinkage"
  15. House Rules Advisory

    Line of businessCorporate governance

Consults on how to run a swamp empire by the book — the book being a lily-pad nailed above the cellblock door, since gone missing from the property room.

On the recordThe Hopfather's Code — the twelve rules
  16. Daily Ribbit Media Holdings

Line of businessPublishing & public relations

Owns the swamp's paper of record, which prints exactly the legend the swamp wants and buries the parts that don't move product. Senior cricket correspondent on permanent retainer.

On the recordThe crew — Jiminy Pressley, The Daily Ribbit
  17. The Grate 12 Trust

    Line of businessParent holding company

The pond above all the ponds. Owns the other sixteen, owns nothing, answers to a single frog who carved his mark under a rusted sewer-grate and never left. This is where the empire begins and where the paper trail ends.

On the recordThe origin — The Scar, from Sewer-grate 12

The Holdings is a public filing that PooPee's lawyers insist is a forgery and PooPee insists is understated. Every pond listed here is dry, every cousin is unreachable, and every fly is accounted for exactly once, which is one more time than the law can prove. This directory is a work of parody. Any resemblance to an actual corporate registry is a compliment the registry did not earn.

Seventeen. Stop counting.

The Holdings Grow on the Feed

You've read all seventeen shell pondcompanies. There are only seventeen. If an eighteenth ever files — and it won't — you'll hear it on the feed before the registry does. Follow PooPee on X and watch a paper trail that only ever gets longer.
