Jiminy Pressley

'The Headline'

Senior cricket correspondent, The Daily Ribbit

The chirp that sells the swamp its own scandals back. Jiminy Pressley turns every PooPee arrest into front-page lily-pad copy — and has never once gotten a printable word out of the soft brother across the water.

'POOPEE SEEN LEAVING COURTHOUSE SMILING' — sold out in an hour
Circulation problem
The other twin. Never made news. Never will.

Jiminy was a struggling court-beat cricket with a failing column until the day PooPee walked out of a courthouse smiling. He ran the photo. The edition sold out in an hour. Jiminy has been PooPee's unofficial press office ever since — technically adversarial, functionally devoted, and always, always in print.

He insists he covers the crew objectively. The crew insists he covers them constantly, which is nearly the same thing and much better for the crew.

Every count on the rap sheet has a matching front page in the Ribbit's morgue, most of them Jiminy's. He does not break the cases; he sells them. A raid is a tragedy on page one and a boom in circulation on page one of the ledger.

He tried, once, to write up the soft twin from across the water. He could not find a headline in him. He says the frog couldn't make news if he fell into the press itself — which Jiminy considers the single most damning thing he has ever filed.

He's the only frog in this swamp who sells papers. The other one couldn't make news if he fell in the press itself.

Intel compiled from defendant testimonials and one (1) sold-out edition. Croaktown P.D. assumes no responsibility for correspondents who have since 'gone fishing in the islands.' A work of parody.
