Officer Beebs
'The Convert'
Ex-Swamp PD, current consigliere
The badge that was assigned to bring the ring down, and now advises it. Three arrest attempts, one cigar, one job offer, and a dental plan later, Officer Beebs is the most inside man the outside ever produced.
How he met PooPee
Three times Officer Beebs came to arrest PooPee under § 04.2. Three times he left with something other than a suspect. The first time it was a cigar. The second time it was advice about his pension. The third time it was a job — better title, better hours, and a boss who never made him fill out a report he didn't want to.
He is not proud of it. He is not ashamed of it either. He describes the conversion the way other frogs describe finding religion, which is to say he found something with a payroll.
What he touched
As a cop, Beebs built the early file on the storm-drain casino. As a consigliere, he now tells the crew exactly how a cop would build that file — which is a great deal more useful to them than it ever was to the department.
He still keeps the old badge in a drawer. He says it opens doors. He does not say which side of them.
I'm a corrupt cop now. Worth it. The dental's better on this side of the badge anyway.
